Blue-chip art lifts the auction market to new heights
Total auction sales of Old Masters, Impressionist, Modern, Post-War and Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips, ended up at $7.5 billion in 2022, up 15% from 2021. The record result was greatly aided by a number of Single owner Collections accounting for 31% of the sales total for 2022.
