Whilst our recent report on the $1m+ market in partnership with Sotheby’s, showed that the Surrealist art market saw a jump in sales of 69.8% in 2022, the Dalí market only generated $8 million in auction sales at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips last year, despite seeing the highest number of lots coming to auction since 2016.

Although we are still far from the peak years in 2011 and 2012, three of the top five prices have been achieved in the last 3 years. Alongside more bidding competition the last two years, and exhibition and curatorial activity reaching a record high for Dalí last year, is the Dalí market about to fire up?
