Auction Sales in July up 16.1% compared to last year

RawFacts Monthly signals that July sales across Sotheby’s & Christie’s global auctions were up 16.1% compared to 12 months ago (Phillips did not hold any auctions in July). This follows a 3.9% increase in auction sales in June. Total auction sales last month amounted to $234.6 million (based on 2,618 lots sold) versus $202.1 million in July 2016 (based on 3,108 lots sold).

Old Master Paintings and Drawings raise $152.4 million

The Old Master paintings and drawings sector accounted for $152.4 million worth of sales in July 2017 (up 16.9% from $130.3 million in 2016). The second biggest category this July was Decorative Arts & Furniture with $43 million (up from $14.8 million in 2016) in reported sales.
