Through large-scale paintings and intricate immersive installations, the artwork of Colombian-born artist Oscar Murillo (b. 1986, La Paila), reflects his own experience of displacement and explores the conditions and dynamics of globalisation and cultural exchange. A painter with a flair for the performative, he often works with video and participatory installation, creating multisensory experiences that engage with the exhibition space and invite visitors to actively engage with larger cultural concerns. Murillo received a BA in Fine Art at the University of Westminster, London in 2007, followed in 2012, by an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London. He lives and works in London.
