The Latin American art auction sales in New York in May 2015 totalled of $42,971,700 (excluding buyer’s premium) between Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillip’s. This result was just 0.84% below the pre-sale low estimate of $46,925,000 and 8.4% below the total sales in November 2014. Mexican modern art accounted for 32.3% of the total value (down from 33.3% in November 2014), followed by Cuban art which accounted for 14.7% (up from 9.2% in November 2014).
The report includes a breakdown of auctions sales by auction house, artist country, price segment as well as the split between modern and contemporary art.
