Dana Schutz’s auction market gained further momentum in 2019: Schutz’s auction market reached a new peak in 2019 with total sales for the year of just under $7.3 million, increasing significantly from the $1.3 million reached through total sales in 2018 and up 72% from the total pre-sale mid-estimate value of $4.2 million in 2019.
79% sell-through-rate at auction since 2005: Overall, Schutz’s market has shown a good sell-through-rate of 79% since 2005, with 18 lots unsold out of 84 lots offered at auction. All 17 lots offered for sale in 2019 found buyers.
A healthy level of curatorial attention in 2019: Schutz’s exhibition activity has fluctuated during the past decade, but still remained strong, with an overall average of seven shows each year. The majority of her exhibitions have been non-commercial, representing 58% of total shows since 2000 (87 shows in total) and comprising 17 solo and 70 group presentations of her work. There have also been 59 commercial exhibitions during the same period (16 solo and 43 group shows).
