Two single owner collections boost art market confidence as Marquee Evening sales come close to an all-time high

The hotly anticipated November mega-sales in New York, which included two blockbuster single owner collections (The Cox and The Macklowe collections), saw auction sales just falling 4.3% short of the previous record season in May 2018.

Total sales from Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips New York Impressionist, Modern, Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening auctions raised $1.95 billion (hammer price) against the total pre-sale estimate of $1.52 billion to $2.10 billion.
