In this week’s episode of the ArtTactic Podcast, we’re joined by Liz Hopfan

Liz Hopfan founded and is Executive Director of Free Arts NYC.

Free Arts NYC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs.

Liz tells us about Free Arts NYC and the current programming they provided to children, teens and families. Then she reveals how some recognisable fine artists have take part in Free Arts NYC’s programming with children.  This programming included: Dan Colen, Rashid Johnson and Rob Pruitt. Also, in light of Free Arts NYC’s upcoming benefit auction, she shares with us the process of organising such an event as well as asking contemporary artists to donate artworks for the evening. Additionally, Liz explains the ways in which the growth of the art market has positively impacted Free Arts NYC. Lastly, Liz elaborates on some of the current challenges facing arts organisations in New York City.
