Hong Kong’s Evening Sales of Modern and Contemporary art set new record highlighting strength in the Asian market
Hong Kong’s evening sales of Modern and Contemporary art this Autumn season raised a total of HK$2.71 billion (US$349 million) against the total estimate of HK$2.02 billion to HK$2.90 billion. This was 25.7% higher than the total sales in Autumn 2019, and a new record season for the Hong Kong market. Despite the disruption caused by Covid-19 on a large part of the global art market, recent Hong Kong auctions demonstrate confidence at the top-end of the market, and the increasingly important role of Hong Kong as a global art market hub.
