Piero Manzoni (1933-1963) was a self-taught Italian artist born in 1933. His associated artists and movements include Yves Klein, Conceptual Art, Arte Povera, and Nuclear Art. Some of his most recognisable works include his series of achromatic paintings, which often incorporated atypical materials such as clay. He was highly experimental in his materials, using everything from fur to his own breath. His conceptual works, such as his series of canned excrement, are also iconic works in his oeuvre. He died in Milan in 1963.
