Through her bold application of colour and attentive use of found materials, the striking and expressive work of Norwegian artist Ida Ekblad (b. 1980, Oslo), marks her out as one of the most recognised artists of her generation. Her practice comprises a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, performance, video, and poetry, with influences ranging from a variety of sources and materials, from art historical references to traditional Scandinavian crafts, Norwegian fairy tales, street art, record covers and reminiscences of her own childhood. Ekblad has studied at the Central St. Martins College of Art, London, at the National Academy of Art, Oslo and the Mountain School of Arts, Los Angeles. She currently lives and works in Oslo.
