American artist Louis Fratino (b. 1993, Annapolis, MD) is best known for his deeply intimate paintings drawn from his memories, experiences and fantasies of gay life in the metropolis. Although he includes still lives and interiors in his subject matter, the majority of his work is of figurative subjects, often of people known to Fratino and even of the artist himself. His modernist style of painting evokes the human body as full of expression, emotion and power, applying historical references to
contemporary subject matter. Throughout his work, Fratino not only explores desire, but celebrates the natural sexuality, intimacy and familiarity of the human body. Fratino gratuated with a BFA (Painting) from the Maryland Institute College of Art (Baltimore, MD) in 2015. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
