American-born, British artist and musician Issy Wood (b. 1993, Durham, North Carolina) is best known for her figurative paintings featuring a range of subjects from gleaming car interiors, to portraits of celebrities or domestic animals, hypersexualized leather jackets, invasive dental examinations and self-portraits. Often painting from pictures on her phone or from auction catalogues, her work explores our relationship to commodities and conceptions of value, along with themes of identity, femininity, intimacy, care, and desire. Wood gratuated with a BA from Goldsmiths (London) in 2015 and an MA from the Royal Academy Schools (London) in 2018. She currently lives and works in London.
