The majority of resold lots were guaranteed in H1 2025

This supplementary report sits alongside our latest edition of the Auction Guarantee Analysis, which focuses on Post-War, Contemporary and young Contemporary artists. Marquee Evening sales since 2021 at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips saw 348 guaranteed lots returning to the auction market, with a combined hammer value of $2.04 million. Resold guaranteed sales accounted for 66.2% of the total evening sales value. This analysis takes a closer look at the performance of 333 of these repeat auction sales and the relationship between holding periods and return on investment.
