|Report Type||Auction Analysis|
New York photography auctions in April set positive tone for London sales this week.
This week a new round of photography auctions will take place in London and Paris, with Sotheby’s kicking off their Paris sales on the 15th, followed by Christie’s London sales on the 16th, which includes a fund-raising auction for the new London Media Space at The Science Museum. Phillips de Pury wraps up the spring season with a photography sales on the 17th May.
The market has high expectations that the positive trend set in April in New York will feed into the sales results this week, and with the results from the ArtTactic Photography Market Confidence Survey up 38% this month, the market is hoping for a positive season.
Last month, the three photography sales taking place in New York between 3rd and 5th of April, produced a healthy total of $13.55 million, the same level as in April 2011.
