This report provides a unique insight into the auction market for Italian artists.

Italian Post-War and Contemporary art auctions see a 31.1% decline in sales in 2019:

After three years of subdued sales growth, the Italian Post-War and Contemporary artists at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips saw a 31.1% drop in sales last year, despite about the same number of lots coming up for auctions.

Higher levels of inventory sold through Milan:

Milan auctions saw a 30% increase in the number of lots sold in 2019, with Sotheby’s and Christie’s increasing the lots in their Milan sales by 20% and 48% respectively.
