The artwork of French artist Claire Tabouret (b. 1981, Pertuis) is strongly influenced by the theme of memory. She draws inspiration from images of the past, from found photographs to childhood memories; the human being is always the central element. Often working on a vast scale, she has risen to acclaim over the past decade for her ethereal, luminous paintings: portraits of individuals and group compositions exploring themes of social and familial relationships, performance, and the passing of time. Tabouret trained at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York (2005) and received a BFA from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (2006). She lives and works between Los Angeles and Paris.
