New York Marquee Week evening sales see significant drop-off
The widely anticipated May sales season in New York, which included three major single owner collections, saw Evening auction sales drop 41.7% from Spring 2022 and 46.9% from November 2022. This year’s total of $1.20 billion (hammer price) was generated against the total pre-sale estimate of $1.21 billion to $1.68 billion. Post-War and Contemporary art accounted for 49.8% of total sales, against 50.2% for Impressionist and Modern art.
